Tutorial: Make an easy turtle origami

Tutorial: Make an easy turtle origami

Today we teach you how to make an easy and quick origami turtle. To start, have a simple sheet of square paper, a chisel and a pencil. This template only requires 3 minutes. An original idea that will suit beginners and children.

Fold the sheet in half

Step 1: fold the sheet in 2

For this first step, begins by folding the paper in 2. The fold must be done diagonally in order to form a pyramid. We advise you to take your time well and be as precise as possible in your folds. This will allow you to get a much better final result than us!😉

Step 2: Form the body of the turtle

Now folds down the right and left sides of the pyramid to the center. Your folding must form a pretty diamond and the edges must be well superimposed. At that time, you must have two equal parts.

Fold the diamond in 2 parts

Step 3: Divide the diamond into three parts

In this stage, we take a first step towards what will be the turtle pasta. To do this, simply fold the upper part on each side of the diamond down. You must normally obtain two beautiful rectangle triangles which are superimposed. Ensures that the whole is straight and regular.

Step 4: Create the turtle's rear legs

At this stage, you will create the front legs of your little turtle. To do this, makes a kind of "rolling up" starting from the right angle of your triangle made in the previous stage. Your fold will be superimposed on the lower bors of your diamond. Repeat the same stage on the other side by ensuring that the legs are well symmetrical to form a very regular shape.

Step 5: Add the forward legs

To make this step, have your chisel and return your diamond. Open the fold well and then cut the upper part from the center. The division must be as straight as possible (not like us 😅). Once the paper is cut, starts to fold the front legs by repeating the same process as in step 4. The best is to make the front legs a little longer than in the back to give a "marine turtle" effect.

Step 6: The tail of the turtle

Fast the end of the diamond (at the level of the rear legs) so as to create a straight line. This fold must arrive at the same level as the joint legs. Then redo a fold in the opposite direction, leaving about 1 cm of margin. This allows you to let go of a little piece of the diamond which forms the tail of the turtle.

Step 7: Creation of the shell

True and surely the most important step: fold the two sides of the diamond that separates the front legs from the rear legs. Make sure to do a right folding so that the shell of your turtle has a good shape. You can then return everything to admire the result.

Step 8: The final touch, eyes

Ultimate step of this tutorial and certainly the simplest and most fun. Get your felt and draw eyes to your turtle. Big, small, or spinning, we let you show imagination at this level. Do not forget to color them. So ! You have a cute origami turtle in your hands.

To conclude with the Origami Turtle

Now that you can easily make an origami turtle, you will be able to use it for various occasions: like decoration of tables, to put on towels or even decorate a Christmas tree. It's up to you to be creative! For optimum rendering, you can also use colorful Canson type paper or more rigid cardboard paper.
